Elephant Bar, OKC

Elephant Bar on Urbanspoon

This Elephant Bar Restaurant is on the south parking lot of Penn Square Mall in Oklahoma City. It’s been there a year or so.

We’ve eaten at this restaurant about 10 times over the past year. The most recent time, Erin and I ate there while Ian was at his 8th grade class dinner at the Olive Garden across the street.

Overall, I am really impressed with the Elephant Bar. I don’t remember if I have eaten at one in another city.

This past time, I got a bowl of Chicken Noodle Soup to start. It was excellent. The main course was Chicken Marsala. While the marsala wine sauce was not quite as rich as I like, the taste of the chicken was excellent. There was a wilted spinach side with it. The spinach had just enough bite to it to provide a nice contrast to the marsala sauce. The chicken wasn’t drowned in the sauce either, it was a nice accompaniment. We got a dessert of a brownie with ice cream since we had time, and it was really good.

Erin got mac and cheese with bacon crumbles. My standard for m&c is Kraft-in-the-box, I LIKE it! This stuff was just as good, so it was all right in my book.

They have good iced tea at the EB. The service is almost always excellent, and when it’s not excellent, it’s still good. You never run out of iced tea, and the food comes at the proper intervals.

I’ve also had steaks at the EB, the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, and the New York Steak Sandwich; all were excellent. Ian has ordered cheeseburgers and chicken tenders, they were also very good.

Recommended. Perhaps a bit more expensive than a TGI Fridays or Chili’s, but worth it.
