Cavanaugh Flight Museum, Addison, TX

We had just visited a store for Erin, and Ian noted a sign pointing to this museum. We like airplanes, and decided to check it out.

First of all, we got to drive through the toll tunnel running under Addison Airport. I didn’t even know there *was* a tunnel under the airport.

This is a nice museum that occupies three hangers at the airport. They have airplanes on display from WWI, WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam. Most of the airplanes are in very good shape, and some are flyable. There are a couple that not unexpectedly need some TLC. Most of them have a story attached to them, mainly what the units that owned the planes did with them. There were a couple of airplanes from other services.

One thing that was very cool was a couple wooden wings being rebuilt. It was very neat to see the joinery used.

It cost $10 per person to tour ($8 for seniors or military). It’s worth it, I think.
